The Boyle Family

Addison Crescent Study, 1969.

Yesterday I took a usual trip to the Gallery of Modern Art and Dean Galleries in Edinburgh where they were exhibiting some of the finest works that have been hiding somewhere behind the scenes for few to many a year. Many masterpieces including a couple of Picasso's, Warhol's, Hurst's, Quin's amonst others decorated theblank walls. This is excluding the few random contemporary pieces such as a room with solid grey canvas's plonked on each wall. Not quite sure of this one.

However what caught my eye most was the one and only piece by the Boyle Family. It was only after asking my mum who was this 'Boyle person' that I discovered it is actually four people, a son, daughter and parents who have worked for years together from one simple starting idea. This idea was that they pinned a map of London up on their wall and shot darts at it, promising to create an enlarged mixed-media piece depicting parts of pavements, roads, floors and rocks etc. Strange idea you might say. Nice idea it proved to be..

1 month to go!!

Maybe the most pointless post but New Zealand a month today!!!! Well, LA for 5days on the way, then New Zealand for 5months, then on to Sydney for 2weeks and Thailand for the next 2weeks.

This year is going to be the biggest adventure of my life! (quite literally around the world!)

Spending the next 24hours non-stop searching everything I intend to do, have already consulted my book 1001 Buildings to see before you die, and have created a list including the Old Parliament Buildings of NZ in Wellington, Rosen House in LA and the Bank of Asia in Bankok..... not forgetting the Beverly Hills Hotel! (promise to provide Blog details and endless amounts of photos from all)
